and they love it. and they love it.

Things have been going pretty steady lately. I’m heading over to Chicago next week to screw around with Calvin and maybe get a little work done. It’s been about 2 years since the last time I’ve gone, so I got a whole new checklist of stuff to check out when I’m there:
1) Calvin’s ‘new’ place – I don’t get to see many digs with floor to ceiling windows
2) The Weiner Circle – a hot dog joint that tests the limits of a racially segregated part of town (check it)
3) Toast – I just want some eggs benedict
4) Threadless Store – they got some pics of the store on their site, but it’d just be nice to see in person.
5) anywhere else Calvin wants to show me around

It’s kinda funny lately. I don’t know if it’s just 2008, but now that everyone is all good and done with their college experiences, it seems like everyone is going back to their roots. We’ve come to realize the good and true friends we have, and time has sifted away the ones that just don’t quite have as strong a bond. Anyway, there’s been a lot of talk about holding ‘reunions’ amongst groups of friends, and it’s kind of nice to actually look back at the past 4 years and see all that has happened. We’ve still got a long way to go…

In the meantime, I’ve been learning loads more about street wear. My first impressions of the people involved have been pretty skewed. The people behind the scenes are actually really knowledgeable about their craft and culture. Behind the seemingly meaningless t-shirt designs comes a lot of heart and history of the designers’ past. The world is starting to take notice, and it’s only just begun. Imagine going to a block party with Bambaataa back in the day. The whole scene is getting huge right now, and we’re on the verge of seeing it blossom into something beautiful.

mastermind JAPAN has released a set of tees to commemorate John Lennon in “The U.S. vs John Lennon”. It’s a great collection:

I copped the one at the top left. Mad sick wit’ it.

On a sidenote, I’ve rediscovered John Mayer’s honeyee blog. It’s basically a little digital journal he keeps for fans and his peeps in the back. We share a lot of the same interests. When we blow up, I’ma definitely kick it with him, picking up a pair of FENOMs.

And he gets the girl…
