A fine WordPress.com site

Month: December, 2008

Come along it is the break of day

It’s just 2 hours ’til the new year, and I’m here updating my site template. A very anti-climactic, but somehow appropriate, ending to the year of 2008. It’s been rather crazy this past month. Starting off with my birthday, December began with a bang. I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of it all, but somewhere down the line shit just piled on one after another. In recent days, things have picked up once again and the month has come full circle. Life really is a vicious cycle.

After 20 days of being MIA, Tomy miraculously came back on Christmas Day. ‘Twas truly the best present I could’ve asked for.

The day was almost over, and I was just hanging out with the fam in my room. In the middle of some work, I got a call from my neighbor saying that a cat, presumably Tomy, had been following them around the block. So I ran out the house, and there he was. Aside from frayed claws and losing about 3 pounds (which probably is better than it is bad), Tomy was in excellent condition. After a quick shower. my mischievous cat licked himself back to good health.

One of the biggest wishes I have is to see where the hell Tomy has been on his adventures around Irvine. After some browsing around, I found the tool that could’ve helped me do just that. It’s unimaginatively called the “Pet’s Eye View Digital Camera” available on ThinkGeek for $49.99. Clip it onto your pet’s collar, set the picture timer interval, and by the end of the day, you can download pictures of everywhere your pet has been.

…only a little bit of time left. I want to squeeze in a run before 2009.

Happy New Year.

This is my second WordPress layout. Made by WooThemes, FreshFolio is a very Web 2.0 friendly theme aimed for personal blogs and portfolios.

SOOPAH256.com v7

With this layout, I used a paid template (YourFolio) from ThemeForest.net. Being my first trial with WordPress, I experimented a lot with plug-ins and widgets. Overall the layout is very sleek and minimal, but doesn’t cater to the type of media that I’d like to add to the site.

This is my December and I’d give it all away

Coming up on 3 weeks, still no sign of Tomy.

Merry Christmas everyone. I think with the recession, the true spirit of Christmas is becoming a little more evident to everyone. I, myself, am definitely learning a lot. This month has been a whirlwind, and I’m barely understanding it still. They say you really don’t know what you have till it’s gone. But even then, I still don’t seem to have a full grasp. Most of the time, life is rather simple. I tend to think of it as a chain of feelings. I’ve always been a huge advocate of experiencing the entire spectrum of highs and lows, but these days I can’t seem to reach very far from neutral.

I make a lot of mistakes in my life. I know it’s all a part of the learning to grow up, but I really wish I could take some of it back.

Tomy is still nowhere to be found. It’s been almost 2 weeks now. I gotta say, I miss my cat.

Is this one more brick in the wall?

Ha, 4am again. It’s really getting cold these days. I know for the past few months I’ve been complaining about how crappy SoCal weather has been, seeing as how we now have 11 months of Summer, and 1 month of Winter. But man, now I’m kind of wishing that it was Summer all year round. Maybe with Winter nights. Haha.

So it’s been 10 days since Tomy has left, and I’m sort of back to where I started. Since I the lady called on Friday, I’ve been roaming the Tustin Field I neighborhood non-stop. Jon and I put up 50 more flyers in the area, hoping that someone will find him again. I’ve been tallying it up in my head, and I must’ve spent a good 10+ hours just roaming the streets over there. I even decided to get creative and map my route with the MapMyRun iPhone app that I’ve been using for my runs. It’s pretty spiffy.

It’s amazing how much you can learn by walking a neighborhood a few times. Not to mention how safe and trusting the people of Irvine are. Three houses had packages (a FedEx envelope, an Amazon package, and a hefty parcel) left on their doorstep throughout the whole weekend. Although now that I think about it, I’m not sure if it’s a matter of ‘trust’ as much as it’s a lack of knowing there’s a package at the door. The new houses being built in the OC are built so closely together, nobody has front lawns or driveways anymore. In my neighborhood, you had to pay a cool million to get a short 30 footer, at which point you still lack a double door front. It’s kind of sad, because it discourages interaction between neighbors. At least in the other neighborhood, people are generally very friendly. There was even this one girl, Eunice (also a cat/dog owner), that gave me a treat bag to shake and help lure Tomy out. Anyway, it rained pretty heavily yesterday. And there should be another two days of rain. I hope Tomy has found some coverage somewhere. Kitten has it too good at home.

It’s over, leave it.

I don’t know how some people can do it. With their busy lives. Keeping up with everything. My life has to be one of the easiest. Granted it’s been busy as fuck this week, and a lot of shit has gone down, but still… Between school work, my few hobbies, and side projects, I don’t think I have to worry about a whole lot. Yet I still am only able to gather my thoughts by waking up at 4 in the AM to catch up on my 600+ Google reader posts that I missed during the day.
