Beijing loves IKEA (but not for shopping)

Customers hop into display beds and nap, pose for snapshots with the decor and enjoy the air conditioning and free soda refills. They just don’t buy much.

I actually kind of like it. They got the colors and weird lettering down. And I’m pretty sure its just a recolored Starscream G1 figure.

Stendig Wall Calendar

Feb2009

I usually hate wall calendars. But the minimal and simplistic choices of font, spacing and colors make the Stendig Wall Calendar the first wall calendar I’m actually considering to buy. I’m not about writing my daily appointments and reminders in tiny spaces. That’s what iCal and my iPhone is for. For me, all I want is to be able to take a quick glance to know what day of the week the 15th of August falls on, and the Stendig Wall Calendar handles that perfectly.

Designed in 1966 by Massimo Vignelli and chosen that same year to join the Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art  in New York, the Stendig calendar is the epitome of classic chic. The Stendig wall calendar consists of twelve sheets printed in black ink on white sixty pound weight offset paper stock. The calendar sheets for some months are reverse printed producing a black background with white letters and numerals with other months printed in black on white background. The calendar measures 3′ x 4′.
