Friday Update from Chuck 11/18

2011-11-19_14-12-01

Appliances were installed this week:

The door hinges on the washer/dryer are not movable. Slight inconvenience, but I’ll get over it.

The hardwood floors were installed last week, but are now covered by a thick protective paper.

A 65″ would be a tight squeeze, so 60″ will have to do.

Research Your Deals.

This morning as I was browsing the Fab iPad app, I came across a deal for a leather shag rug that I’ve been considering to get for my living room.

Being a daily (limited) deal site, I was inclined to make an impulse purchase. I’ve found similar rugs on Overstock for a bit cheaper, but I thought a brand being sold on Fab must be of higher standards. However, after a little research I found the exact same rug available on Amazon for $1.23 cheaper with quicker delivery time. No special “for a limited time only” or “act now” nonsense.

Everything and Nothing.

Screen_shot_2011-11-13_at_1

I’d rather want everything and have nothing than have everything and want nothing. Because at least when you want something your life has a meaning, it’s worthwhile. From the moment you think you have everything you have to search for meaning in other things. I spent half my life wanting everything and having nothing. And now I have everything and I don’t want anything.

The Swopper Chair

When I began shopping around for furniture for the house, there was one troublesome spot that immediately stood out to me — the tech center. It’s a little alcove between the 2nd the 3rd floor where I plan to set up a small workstation. The problem with the tech center is the minimal space alotted to manuver any type of rolling chair.

My solution: Swopper.

Swopper is the first chair that allows 3-dimensional movement: front to back, side to side, and up and down, the way nature intended. The motion is balanced and allows for ever-changing pressure points, which helps keep the body and mind vibrant.

I first came across the Swopper back in a 2004 visit to Scandinavian Designs. No joke, it was quite literally love at first bounce. The free form motion that the Swopper allows is somewhat akin to a balance ball chair, but provides more bouncing stability and adjustment for motion.

Height Adjustment Lever/Spring Tension Ring/Sideways Movement Handwheel:

These adjustments are to account for different user weights and bouncing preferences.

I just got my Red Special Edition Swopper today (in pics above), and it is every bit as good as I remember from 2004. The biggest caveat is it’s price. They generally start at $699 (for microsuede) and go up from there (for leather). I had an excellent experience purchasing mine from Amazon seller SWOPPER SittingInMotion, so I recommend starting there if you’re at all interested in purchaisng one for yourself.

Here’s a good video demonstrating the Swopper:
