The Swopper Chair

by Joseph

When I began shopping around for furniture for the house, there was one troublesome spot that immediately stood out to me — the tech center. It’s a little alcove between the 2nd the 3rd floor where I plan to set up a small workstation. The problem with the tech center is the minimal space alotted to manuver any type of rolling chair.

My solution: Swopper.

Swopper is the first chair that allows 3-dimensional movement: front to back, side to side, and up and down, the way nature intended. The motion is balanced and allows for ever-changing pressure points, which helps keep the body and mind vibrant.

I first came across the Swopper back in a 2004 visit to Scandinavian Designs. No joke, it was quite literally love at first bounce. The free form motion that the Swopper allows is somewhat akin to a balance ball chair, but provides more bouncing stability and adjustment for motion.

These adjustments are to account for different user weights and bouncing preferences.

I just got my Red Special Edition Swopper today (in pics above), and it is every bit as good as I remember from 2004. The biggest caveat is it’s price. They generally start at $699 (for microsuede) and go up from there (for leather). I had an excellent experience purchasing mine from Amazon seller SWOPPER SittingInMotion, so I recommend starting there if you’re at all interested in purchaisng one for yourself.

Here’s a good video demonstrating the Swopper:
